What Today holds
Today lists yesterday's misses first, then reviews, then questions you have never answered, up to your Daily limit (50 unless you change it in Settings) and your New questions per day limit (20 new questions a day unless you change it). Misses come first so a fresh error is corrected before new material is added. Anything past the limit waits for tomorrow. Assignments from a group come after your own due questions.
Your session mixes topics and subjects on purpose instead of finishing one topic before starting the next (Rohrer et al., 2020; Kornell and Bjork, 2008). Questions that share a case stay together in their numbered order. When you miss a question in a session, it returns later in the same session after a few other questions until you answer it right once (Rawson and Dunlosky, 2011), and still comes back tomorrow morning.
Press Start session to begin.
Working a large bank
If you import hundreds of questions at once, leave your new questions per day limit near 20 new questions a day. Today feeds that slice in after your due reviews so your review load grows steadily instead of piling up into a wall a week later.
A session
Answer, then press Check answer. Every answer gets feedback, and color is never the only sign. The key has a solid border and a check, a wrong pick a dashed border and a cross, and each is labeled in words. If you typed an answer that should have counted, press Count mine as correct.
An answer is kept as soon as it is checked. Leave ends the session and keeps the rest for later.
There is no clock unless you ask for one. After 25 minutes of practice Aefing suggests a short break, once.
When a question comes back
- A new question, and every miss, comes back the next morning, at your cue time.
- After a right answer, Aefing works out how well you still know the question, using FSRS, a published model of memory. It brings the question back when your chance of recalling it has fallen to your recall target, 90 percent unless you change it under Daily in Settings.
- Questions you find easy come back after longer and longer gaps, up to a year. A miss starts the climb again.
How Aefing schedules your reviews explains the model and the research behind it.
Three correct answers on three separate days mark a question learned.
Keys
Letters or numbers pick a choice, Enter checks and moves on, and Escape leaves. Session keys lists them all.
A timer, if you want one
Under Daily in Settings, Session timer, seconds per item paces your own sessions. A quiz page also has Time me for one run. Retention checks are never timed.
With no connection
From your second day, Today offers to keep Aefing on your device. Then you can answer your saved questions with no connection, and the answers reach your account when you are back online.
