Privacy notice
Aefing is run by Hengmont Technologies OPC in the Philippines. This notice says what Aefing keeps, who controls it, and how to remove it. It follows the Data Privacy Act of 2012.
What Aefing keeps
Your account has a username, a password stored only as a hash, your timezone and your settings. An email is optional. It gets a link to confirm it and helps you back in if you forget your password. If you buy Pro, it also gets your receipts, refunds and plan reminders. Aefing keeps the topics, questions and quizzes you write and every answer you give, so it can bring your misses back. If you follow a course outline or an exam's syllabus, Aefing keeps which one and, for an exam, which sitting. If you say how a real test or exam went, it keeps that result, which you can change or delete.
Shared quizzes
When you answer a quiz someone shared, your answers go to the person who shared it and are stored by Aefing. You need no account. Your browser gets a random id in a cookie for 30 days, so your results stay on your device. The owner may ask for details such as a name or a batch before the questions; what you type there is kept encrypted, and only the owner reads it. Nothing else about you is asked.
Who controls it
You control what you write and your own practice. The owner of a shared quiz controls the answers given to it, and the person running a group controls the answers given to its assignments. Aefing controls account data.
What your answers are used for
We may use what you answer, never what you write, to make the schedule and the grading better for everyone. Numbers are shared only for a topic name that twenty or more learners use. Your questions are yours.
Where it is kept
Aefing runs on Fly.io servers in Singapore. Email goes out through Resend, in the United States. When you buy Pro, the payment goes through PayMongo in the Philippines or Lemon Squeezy in the United States, which get only what a payment needs. When something breaks, an error report goes to Sentry with what failed and on which page, and nothing about you. Hengmont Technologies OPC stays responsible for your data wherever it is kept.
If there is a breach
If a breach puts your data at risk, we tell you and the National Privacy Commission within 72 hours of learning of it.
No ads, ever
Aefing shows no ads and never sells data, in the free tier or any other.
How long it is kept
Your account and what you write stay until you delete them. Answers to a shared quiz stay with its owner until you delete your response, even if the owner deletes the quiz. If the owner deletes their account, your answers go with it, and your score and any details you typed stay until you delete your response. A guest's answers that were never saved to an account are deleted 180 days after they were sent. When you delete your account, answers you gave to someone else's quiz or group stay with them without your name, for 180 days after you sent them. A note you leave on a question goes only to the quiz's owner, encrypted, and is deleted with your response or your account. After you delete your account we keep a coded form of a confirmed email, never the address, only so it does not get a second free trial or first purchase price, for 24 months.
Your choices
Export everything you wrote from Settings. Delete your account from Settings, and you have 14 days to change your mind. Delete a response to a shared quiz at aefing.app/delete with the code on your results page.
Children
Aefing is for people 13 and over. Children under 13 may not make an account or answer a shared quiz.
If you are 13 to 17
Here is the short version. Aefing keeps the questions you write and your answers so it can help you remember. Nobody sees your own practice but you. Answers to a quiz someone shared with you, or to a group's assignment, go to the person who runs it. Aefing never shows you ads or sells your data. You can download or delete everything in Settings. If something worries you, talk to a parent or write to us.
Your rights
You may ask what Aefing keeps about you, have it corrected, get a copy, or have it deleted. If we do not settle a concern, you may complain to the National Privacy Commission at privacy.gov.ph.
Cookies
Aefing uses one cookie for your session, which keeps you signed in, and, on shared quizzes, the guest cookie above. There are no tracking or advertising cookies. Aefing counts views of its public pages itself, with no cookie. It keeps the page, the day and the site you came from, and a code made from your address and browser with a key that changes every day and is deleted after two, so a visit cannot be traced back to you or followed from one day to the next.
